Single Chalet Host at Reach 4 the Alps

Ski Resort: Les Portes du Soleil – Morzine/Avoriaz/Les Gets/Châtel/Morgins/Champéry, France

We are looking to recruit a single Chalet Host for our catered chalets, Chalet Hibou and Chalet Chouette (each sleep 8-10). There are two chalets in the same location with a team of 3 staff.

You will work closely with the other host sharing the cooking as we work on a set menu so it is a nice opportunity for single applicants who want to be part of a small team.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have previous catering experience, whether it is professional catering experience in a restaurant or hotel environment or having been a Chalet Host previously (where cooking rather than assisting a chef was required). The role requires someone who gets on well with people from all walks of life, can cook to a high standard, is well organised, takes pride in doing the job properly with great attention to detail, has a lot of energy and can work as part of a team.

You will be required to provide breakfast with a daily cooked option, a cake for afternoon tea, hot and cold canapes and a 3-course evening meal, as well as cleaning the chalet daily and changing over the chalet on the day of departure/arrival of the guests. In addition, there will be some weeks when we have guests staying for a short break and the chalet needs to be changed over mid-week but additional help to do the changeover will be given on these weeks.

Standard daily tasks

Morning:

Laying out continental breakfast & cook a daily hot option
Make beds, clean bathrooms & empty bins
Tidy, vacuum communal living areas & wash floors
Prepare & lay out afternoon tea
Prep for evening meal (consider kids meals/dietary options)

Evening:

Clear away afternoon tea
Serve children’s meals if required
Prepare & canapes, three course dinner, cheese & coffee
Wash and tidy up, clean kitchen
Lay table for breakfast
Standard weekly tasks
Put laundry out for collection, put away clean laundry
Stock take and complete online food order, weekly supermarket shop
Complete meat order; store once delivered
Mid-week towel change for all rooms
Complete chalet report, collect guest satisfaction forms
Change-over all bedrooms & clean communal areas (every Sunday with some mid-week change-overs)
Juggling change-over if you have an overlap of arriving & departing guests
Manage guest requests, questions, problems
Additional preparation for staff day off

Hours/ Package

Competitive monthly salary paid through the French system (in euros)

Morzine-Les Gets-Avoriaz ski pass
Ski hire for the season
Uniform
A €150pp travel allowance for your return travel to Morzine
There are 2 days off a week and 2.5 holiday/sick days per month that will be paid at the end of the season
Reach4thealps will also organise and pay for team events in the season, typically night sledging, cross country skiing and or a meal in a mountain restaurant, an important way to say thanks and to come together as a team and just have fun!
We also have high standard, well located accommodation that is available for rent though our sister company at a lower rate than the market average.

Requirements

What kind of person are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals who have either done a ski season
hosting a chalet before & or have experience working in the catering/hospitality industry and who have a genuine love and interest in food & flair for cooking & excellent attention to detail.

You need to be

Training

Successful applicants will be offered a place on our winter training course commencing in early December. Reach4thealps will pay for your accommodation, all food and will pay for the costs of the training provided by trained chefs & our management team. On completing this course you will be given a contract with Reach4thealps and pay will begin after the completion of this training week.

The employee will need to pay for their own insurance to cover their free time, skiing & personal belongings.

* EU Passport holders
* British passport holders/other nationalities with French residency which is called a Titre De Sejour (or who are in process of applying for residency) allowing them to work in France
* Other nationalities with the right to work in France (young traveller working visa)
* British passport holders who don’t have French residency BUT who have either worked minimum one ski season before as a Chalet Host or who have relevant hospitality experience (we, as the employer would apply for a working visa for you)
