House Keeping at Alikats

Everyday in an AliKats chalet is different and that is one of the things that our hosts generally enjoy the most about working for us – there is never a dull moment! However if we had to try and describe a typical day then it might go a little something like this:

Wake up at 6.45 am and then smile as you remember you are about to spend another day in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Head to the kitchen to start preparing a delicious breakfast of baguettes, croissants, home made yoghurt and jam, maybe a full English or smashed avo on toast.

Welcome the guests to breakfast, serve them some food and make sure they are set up for a great day on the slopes.

Hopefully you will need to shovel some snow to clear the driveway as this means there is a powder day to be had!

Take the guests to the slopes and then head back to the chalet to service the bedrooms, tidy up the chalet, bake a delicious cake or savoury for afternoon tea, check the hot tub is clean, do some prep for dinner. Generally sure that everything will be ready for to give the guests a warm welcome when they return to the chalet.

Now is your time to enjoy the mountains so you might make yourself a quick sandwich, get into your ski gear and then head up to your favorite spot with some friends to enjoy hours of skiing or snowboarding.

Depending on the guests pick up time, you might head down the mountain to have a quick shower and some food (most likely some gourmet leftovers or else a veggie staff meal) before the evening shift. At around 5pm you will head to pick your guests up from the slopes and on the way back can swap stories about the best runs or wipe outs that happened during the day.

Once the guests are settled with afternoon tea or a beer in the hot tub, you will turn your attention to dinner prep. There is wine to be chilled, canapes to be made, a table to be laid and a four course dinner to be finished off (the building blocks of which will have been carefully prepared by the talented chefs in our prep kitchen). Dinner is served at around 7.30pm and the guests always enjoy the hosts wine and food introductions as part of the spectacle of an AliKats meal experience.

Once the cheese course, tea & coffee has been served then it’s time to set up for breakfast and bid the guests farewell for the evening. Then it’s up to you whether to head out to the pub for a drink and catch up with friends or off to bed to ensure you have plenty of energy to shred the next day!

Who are we looking for?

Essential:

* A positive attitude and willingness to work hard

* Minimum age of 21 (as specified by our vehicle insurer)

* At least one person in the couple needs to be a competent cook

* A full manual driving license that allows you to drive in Europe.

* An interest in skiing/snowboarding or love for the mountains.

Preferable:

* Hospitality experience

* An appreciation of food & wine

* Team management or project management experience

* A commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices


We are looking for couples or good friends as the accommodation is twin & double rooms only.
